Hikers often encounter unexpected things, and I am no exception.
Over the years, I have made it a habit to walk the paths around my house at least two or three times a week.
Recently, a man in Peterborough, United Kingdom, experienced a thought-provoking scene as he wandered through the woods.
After crossing a treeline and reaching the crest of a dip, he noticed hundreds of tennis balls scattered on the forest floor.
The balls stood out distinctly from the landscape, and the hiker decided to approach closer to get a better look.
Upon doing so, he realized that they were not tennis balls, but living creatures!
There were a large number of chicks, no more than a day old at most.
It was suspected that someone had intentionally abandoned the chicks, hoping they would perish unnoticed.
Authorities were alerted, and the birds were rescued.
I have never seen anything like this on my hikes.
